5/6 WEEK 7 / PRACTICE 1
WK.7 — P1
Focus: Using the crease as an offensive hub, defending with adjacent slides, and applying pressure rides to force turnovers.
0:00–0:08 | Ladder Agility Warm-Up (no Stick)
Two foot forwards: 2 feet in each square moving forward → sprint out 5 yds.
Ickey Shuffle – 2 feet in, 1 foot out, quick lateral steps → sprint out 5 yds.
Lateral In/Out – 2 feet in, 2 feet out, lateral steps
0:08–0:16 | 2 Cone Throwback Drills (4 min per drill - 2 min per Left & Right Hands ) 3-4 players at station
Step Back: Player 1 runs to cone 1 → Cuts hard to their right, steps back, turns to the inside → Throws back to Player in line
Roll away: Player 1 runs to cone 1 → Punches stick to outside and follows stick → Turns and throws back to Player in line
0:18–0:28 | Small-Sided Competitive – 3v3 Crease Challenge
Set up crease cone in middle, force offense to work through inside feed or crease pick.
Defense uses “adjacent slide” — nearest neighbor slides when ball carrier beats man.
Play to 3 points, switch O/D.
0:28–0:38 | Position-Specific (Live)
Attack: Crease picks & seals to free hands.
Midfield: Dodge from top, eyes on crease outlet.
Defense: Stick in lane on crease feeds, ready to bump if adjacent slides.
Goalie: Call slides early, track ball to inside.
0:38–0:48 | Offense Install – “Crease Hub Motion”
2 outside attackmen and 2 middies constantly rotate ball around crease player.
Crease player sets picks or slips for feeds.
Look for skip lanes after defense collapses.
0:48–0:58 | Defense Drill – Adjacent Slide Recovery
Run 4v4.
When ball carrier beats defender, adjacent slides immediately; backside defender “fills” crease.
Recovery = sprint back to original matchup without leaving middle open.
0:58–1:08 | Ride Drill – Pressure Ride with Attack Lock-Off
Attack locks on their man, no free clears.
Middies force sideline, D pushes up to midfield.
Goal: force bad pass or sideline trap within 10 seconds.
1:08–1:18 | Small-Sided Game – 5v5 with Crease Bonus
1 point for normal goal, 2 points for goal scored from inside 5 yds (crease area).
Encourages offense to get inside and defense to protect middle.
1:18–1:25 | RST Conditioning – 10 × 20-Yard Sprints
100% effort, 15 seconds rest.
Coaches time first and last sprint to test consistency.
1:25–1:30 | Wrap & Huddle
Review: Importance of crease as offensive hub, how adjacent slides protect middle, riding pressure to create turnovers.
5/6 WEEK 7 / PRACTICE 2
WK.7 — P2
Focus: Reading & hitting skip lanes for scoring chances, rotating on defense to cover backside threats, and handling chaotic scramble plays.
0:00–0:08 | Cone Agility Box Drill
Square Drill: 4 Cone 5 yards apart. Starting at cone 1 → Sprint to the cone 2 → Shuffle to the cone 3 → Backpedal to the cone 4 → Shuffle to cone 1.
X Drill: 4 Cone 5 yards apart. Starting at cone 1 → crossover to cone 3 → shuffle to cone 2 → back reverse crossover to cone 4 → Shuffle to cone 1.
L Drill: 3 Cones 5 yards apart. Starting at cone 1 → Sprint to cone 2 → Sprint back to cone 1 → Sprint around cone 2 → Loop around cone 3 → Sprint back around cone 2 and back to cone 1
0:08–0:16 | 2 Cone Throwback Drills (4 min per drill - 2 min per Left & Right Hands ) 3-4 players at station
Split Back: Player 1 runs to cone 1 → Punches stick to outside and follows stick → Switches stick to opposite hand and runs back to cone 1 while throwing to Player in line
Split Roll: Player 1 split doges running to cone 1 → Punches stick to outside and follows stick
0:18–0:28 | Small-Sided Competitive – 4v4 Skip Lane Game
Set 4 cones in diamond shape (simulate spacing).
Offense can only score after a skip pass is completed.
Defense anticipates and closes passing lanes; offense works fakes and quick ball movement.
0:28–0:38 | Position-Specific
Attack: Fake low pass, throw over defender’s head.
Midfield: Draw slide, pivot hips to skip lane.
Defense: Stick in lane, recover to backside when ball swings.
Goalie: Jump eyes to likely skip target early.
0:38–0:48 | Offense Install – “Skip to Hammer”
Dodge draws slide → skip pass to backside shooter.
Backside player catches, immediately feeds crease or shoots.
Walk-through → half → live reps.
0:48–0:58 | Defense Drill – Backside Rotation
5v5 set.
When slide comes, backside low defender bumps up, high defender drops down.
Focus: keep middle closed, prevent easy backside finish.
0:58–1:08 | Chaos Drill – GB Scramble to Goal
Coach throws GB in middle of 6–8 players.
Whoever scoops immediately attacks to goal, teammates join for numbers advantage.
Defense must find matchups on fly.
1:08–1:18 | Small-Sided Game – 5v5 Chaos Rules
Play starts with GB or rebound.
Only 10 seconds to score once possession is gained.
Forces quick decision-making under pressure.
1:18–1:25 | RST Conditioning – 10 × 20-Yard Sprints
100% effort, 15 seconds rest.
Coaches time first and last sprint to test consistency.
1:25–1:30 | Wrap & Huddle
Review: When to use skip lanes, defensive backside discipline, staying composed in scramble plays.
